Recommendations for your first skydive

Recommendations for your first skydive

You made a date for your jump, you marked it in your calendar and you can’t wait for that day to finally arrive. Soon the time will come for you to make the big leap. It is totally normal to be nervous or feel insecure, but so you can feel the greatest peace of mind when the day arrives, we want to share a couple of skydiving recommendations with you.

Without further ado and with the best wishes from iJump, the following are 6 valuable tips for you to make the most out of your skydiving experience.

Wear comfortable clothes

We always recommend to wear super comfy clothes for your skydive. It’s very likely that when the plane gets to the top you will feel even more nervous than before. The last thing you want to worry about is that your jeans are too tight and restricting the movement of your legs.

So our best advice is to wear clothes that do not impede your mobility and in which you feel very comfortable while falling at 200km / h. You will greatly appreciate it later.

Eat like any other day

A tip that we give our costumers frequently, is to eat normally. Many people come for their jump on an empty stomach and between the adrenaline and nerves, they might feel a bit uncomfortable or even feel sick from stomach acids on an empty stomach.

So the day before, have a normal dinner and in the morning have breakfast as you would any other day. You will want to have all your energy to fully enjoy the incredible day that awaits you.

Breathe normally!

Something that we often clarify and it’s good to know about is, that due to their nerves some people might find it difficult to breathe.

That happens because just before jumping out they breathe in and once they are in free fall they try to take another breath in but without exhaling the air they have already taken at the door during their exit. That is, they try to inhale more air into the lungs but without exhaling the air they already have.

So as mundane as this might sound, we remind you that during free fall you can breathe through your nose as you normally do on the ground. If you find that you have difficulty breathing, it is only because of your nerves and the best tip we can give you for that is, just scream!

When you scream, you let the air out of your lungs and you can breathe in again. Although breathing is quite simple and we do it automatically, when we are nervous, those automatic functions of our body can be affected.

Tandem skydive with a peace of mind

Do you know what a tandem skydive is? If you are about to take your first jump, you probably have a pretty good idea already. Basically, when you do a tandem jump you will be attached with a harness to an instructor who will make sure that everything goes well and that you enjoy your jump safely.

What is a Tandem Skydive?

Skydiving is actually one of the safest sports that you can practice so you really have nothing to worry about. We inspect our equipment before and after each flight. All our instructors have years of experience and completed thousands of jumps, so breathe, relax and enjoy the views!

Don’t be afraid to ask

The instructor taking you on this incredible adventure wants you to enjoy the experience to the fullest and will always make sure that you do it safely. Before the jump, you will receive a briefing where you will learn what to do during the skydive.

This is a good time to ask all the questions that you might have and that you have not been able to answer through an internet post. It is normal to feel a bit nervous about jumping out of a plane, so we recommend to use this opportunity and make sure that you have the answers to all your questions before your skydive.

Meet all the requirements to skydive

Are you familiar with the conditions you must meet to be able to skydive? Did you know that you shouldn’t scuba dive within 24 hours before jumping? And how did you plan to record your experience? We recommend to take a look at the requirements and recommendations on our website to avoid any disappointments on the day of your jump.

Smile and have fun =)

Ultimately, you decided to go skydiving to have fun and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so don’t forget that this is what it’s all about. Enjoy the adrenaline rush and freedom you will feel – it will be more intense than most other experiences you can have.

We want to point out, that should you for whatever reason at the last moment not feel well or you continue to have insecurities, we will never force you to jump if you don’t want to. After all, skydiving is an activity we offer for you to have a great time and experience intense joy.
